4 Days Camping Tsavo Battle Field Tour

This year 2014 marks the centenary year to the start of the World War 1 around the world and in Kenya this commemoration is being held in Taita Taveta County which pitted forces from the German ruled Tanganyika against British forces protecting the British colonies in Kenya, Uganda and Somaliland.
Battlefield tourism specializes in tour of battlefield, cemeteries, memorials and related historic sites all around the world. It focuses on historic battlefields where the fighting is long past and is much more strongly linked to heritage and commemoration.
The featured tours will take you through an odyssey of how the 1st World War was fought in Taita Taveta in what we now call “The East African Campaign”
DAY 1(28th Aug) – DEPART NAIROBI-TAVETA
Early morning departure from Nairobi at 7.00 am and drive to Taveta Sub-county through Emali, Loitoktok road. Arrive at Chala campsite by midday to prepare lunch. Early afternoon visit Mahoo, Taveta Common Wealth Graves Commission (CWGC)European Cemetery and Indian Cemetery and proceed over to the former Taveta Police Station where the first gun shot was fired from. Thereafter drive back to the campsite where there will be local entertainment before and after dinner..- Bush Party by the bonfire Overnight at Chala Campsite.
DAY 2 (29th Aug) – MAKTAU IN TAITA
After breakfast, depart to drive to Salaita for the day’s event. Enroute visit the Sniper’s Baobab Tree and climb Salaita Hill to view at close range the bankers that were used during the war which are still intact. Lunch will be provided. There after , proceed to Maktau Campsite. Afternoon visit Maktau CWGC Indian Memorial and also go and view the bankers at Picket hill. Evening local entertainment before and after dinner..- Bush Party by the bonfire Overnight at Maktau Campsite.
DAY 3 (30th Aug) – VOI SUB-COUNTY
Morning have breakfast and break camp. Thereafter drive and enter Tsavo West National Park through Maktau Gate. Game drive inside the park visiting Kichwa Tembo Fort Crater Fort and Fort Mzima. Picnic lunch at Mzima springs campsite. Thereafter depart and drive to Voi-Sub-county with a brief stop to view Mashoti Fort. Bush Party by the bonfire before and after dinner at Land campsite Overnight at Land Campsite, Voi Sub-County.
DAY 4 – VOI-NAIROBI
Morning breakfast, thereafter break camp and depart leisurely back to Nairobi. Lunch on the way is on own arrangements. End of Program

Cost includes: Transport in an overland truck, Full board Accommodation based on sharing a two man tent, (meals inclusive) and one game drive (inclusive of resident park fee) in Tsavo West National Park.
